1. 2. Web map service 1. The Web Map Service (Web map service-WMS) makes maps using data with geospatial location information. The map is defined as the visual representation of geographic data. This specification defines the following three operations: 1), GetCapabitities returns the service-level metadata, which is a description of the service information content and requirement parameters;

2) GetMap returns a map image, whose geospatial reference and size parameters are clearly defined;

3), GetFeatureInfo (optional) returns information about some special elements displayed on the map.

2. The Web map service can return the corresponding map (including PNG, GIF, JPEG or vector forms such as SVG and WEB CGM). The WMS supports the network protocol HTTP, and the supported actions are defined by the URL. 3, there are three important operations, GetCapabilities, GetMap, and GetFeatureinfo.

1), GetCapabilities returns the service-level metadata; GetMap returns a map image; GetFeatureinfo returns information about some special elements displayed on the map.

2) There are some other operations such as DescribeLayer, GetLegendGraphic, GetStyles, SetSytles.

3) From the traditional point of view, what GetMap gets is the result drawn in the control in the desktop program, which is the performance of the data.

4) GetFeatureInfo is easier to understand. It has the same function as the Info button used in almost all desktop programs, which is used to obtain information somewhere in the screen coordinates. The parameters in GetFeatureInfo are screen coordinates, current view range, etc., which also facilitates the writing of the client to a certain extent.

5), GetFeatureInfo can return element information from multiple layers at the same time, which is the same as ArcGIS Desktop. The WMS also includes some requests for returning legend information like the GetLegend, which is also defined entirely according to existing standards on the desktop.
